All-New Training Demos Scheduled for Aussie Event

When Clinton and Ian Francis join forces at the Queensland State Equestrian Centre in Caboolture this December, they’ll be offering a brand-new line up of training demonstrations.

Saturday, December 14th:

8 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – Get Your Colt Off to the Best Start (Clinton)
Working with a horse that has never been saddled or ridden, Clinton explains how to lay a foundation for a successful first ride with a horse. From introducing the saddle through to the first ride, you’ll learn his step-by-step process and the extra steps he takes to ensure that horse and rider stay safe.

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Lunch

12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Working in the Roundpen (Ian)
Ian will work with a young horse to get control of his feet and his mind and an older horse to improve his understanding of how to better relate to the bridle.

1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Break

2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Loping Drills (Clinton)
Clinton shares key exercises for all levels of riders and horses to better their skillset at the lope. You’ll learn how to teach a horse to maintain gait and lope confidently on a loose rein as well as how to teach your horse to carry himself correctly bridled up.

3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Break

4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. – Form and Function (Ian)
This demonstration is all about understanding form and function and developing consistency of form in your horse. Ian will demonstrate how riders can improve their sense of feel and timing.

5:30 p.m. – Q&A With Clinton and Ian
Clinton and Ian are available to answer your horse training questions and to sign autographs.

Sunday, December 15th:

8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. – The Importance of Groundwork and Gaining Your Horse’s Respect (Clinton)
If you’re looking to maximize the time you spend with your horse on the ground, this demo is for you. Clinton shares his go-to exercises when he’s looking to gain a horse’s respect and trust in a limited amount of time.

9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Break

10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The Weekend Warrior, Part One (Ian)
Would you like to compete in cattle events but don’t know where to start? Ian shares the exercises and maneuvers that he uses to prepare his horses for cattle-related events. He’ll also demonstrate the exercises he uses to maintain and improve his horses between events.

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Lunch

12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Suppling the Five Body Parts (Clinton)
No matter what discipline you do with your horse, to succeed you must be able to control his body from his nose to his tail. Clinton explains how to soften and supple a horse’s five body parts – head and neck, poll, shoulders, ribcage and hindquarters – for ultimate body control and increased performance.

2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. – Break

2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – The Weekend Warrior, Part Two (Ian)
What do you do when you have no access to cattle, but still want to compete?  Ian will take the exercises and maneuvers from session one and show you how to apply them for work on the mechanical cow and quad cow for cutting, campdrafting and cow horse events.

4:00 p.m. – Q&A With Clinton and Ian
Clinton and Ian are available to answer your horse training questions and to sign autographs.
