August Member Exclusive: Ride With Clinton

When Clinton was an apprentice for Gordon McKinlay and Ian Francis, he spent a lot of time just watching the revered horsemen work their horses. It’s a practice he still does to this day with horsemen he admires.

Over the years, many members have told Clinton that they wish they could sit on a fence rail and watch him train his horses. “It’s a great way to learn. There are so many tips you can pick up to better your horsemanship by just studying someone,” Clinton says. “This month’s digital download is your chance to do that with me.”

The last day our team was in Arizona to film the Arizona Desert Adventure series, Clinton saddled Tyrion up in the late afternoon and took him for one final training session in the desert. While he focused on training the colt, our production crew turned on their cameras and followed him around.

This month’s download was filmed to feel as if you’re sitting on a rock, watching Clinton and Tyrion go to work. It’s all in real-time, shot on the go with the cameras staying up with Clinton as best as they can. “Throughout the ride, I explain what I’m doing with Tyrion, why I’m asking him to do it, and what I like and don’t like about how he’s responding,” Clinton says. “So sit back, get ready to take some notes and enjoy this inside look at a typical training session with me.”
