Build Your Horse’s Confidence Around Clippers

0608_02

Attempting to trim a horse that fears clippers is frustrating and can turn downright dangerous. Whether a horse is afraid of the noise clippers make or the vibrating feeling of having them next to his body, Clinton’s got a step-by-step plan to help you build your horse’s confidence.

Clinton details his approach to teaching a horse to stand relaxed while being clipped in the training guide, Train Your Horse to Stand Still for Clipping. “Follow the steps in the guide and with practice you will be able to clip your horse without having to fight with him or restrict him in any way,” Clinton says. “The key is to break the process into steps and to teach the horse that the noise and the feel of the vibrating clippers are not going to hurt him. The smaller the steps, the easier it is for him to understand.”
