It’s another two months until Clinton heads to Conyers, Georgia to teach a three-day Fundamentals Clinic, but horsemen are already looking forward to the course. In fact, more than half of the clinic’s participant spots are spoken for.
During the clinic, Clinton will help horsemen raise their expectation levels about the performance they accept from themselves and their horses. “When you’re training on your own, it’s easy to fall into a routine and think that you’re doing a great job with your horse. While you’re probably doing a good job, there’s always room for improvement, and that’s where a clinic or working with a trainer is vital to making progress,” Clinton says. “I’m no different. I routinely check in with other trainers and have them watch me work my performance horses or ride them and ask them to offer tips to help me refine what I’m doing.
“The best thing about horsemanship is that you can never know it all. Just when you think you have it figured out, you learn something new that takes you and your horse to a whole new level of performance. That’s why I enjoy teaching Fundamentals Clinics. For many horsemen, the clinics are a real eye opener about what they and their horses are truly capable of doing. When you can inspire someone to get to that next level of performance, it’s a rewarding feeling. And that’s what Downunder Horsemanship is all about.”
