Meet the 2020 Clinician Academy Students: Dawn Kremkau

When the Clinician Academy starts at the end of September, Dawn Kremkau will be in attendance, ready to soak up as much knowledge as she possibly can. Horsemanship has been a lifelong hobby for the Florida horsewoman. Here, she shares why she’s passionate about the Method and what led her to enroll in the Academy.

Why do you believe in the Method?
Twelve years ago, I purchased a reactive, 16.1-hand, 3-year-old Missouri Foxtrotter gelding who repeatedly tried to kill me. He was way too much horse for my skill level and I was scared. After attending a three-day Fundamentals Clinic, I went home, fashioned a makeshift round-ring with my husband, and began implementing the Method. That horse turned into my best friend.

What made you decide to attend the Academy?
Nearing the end of my teaching career and facing an empty nest, I began searching for my next “BIG” adventure. Spending time with horses (groundworking them and trail riding) has always been an enjoyable hobby. With the support and encouragement of my husband, I began to see it in a new light. Clinton says, “It’s never too late to set a new goal or dream a new dream.” My new adventure is the road to becoming a Method Ambassador. Once achieved, I will put my teaching skills to work again; only this time, I’ll be training horses and their humans.
