December NWC DVD

In this month’s lesson, Clinton shares a training technique he’s been using since he apprenticed with Gordon McKinlay that improves a horse’s steering, gets him softer and suppler, and using the thinking side of his brain. The exercises can be used on horses of all training levels — finished horses to colts with a handful of rides on them. To illustrate that point, Clinton works with three horses throughout the lesson. The first horse he rides is one of his 3-year-old cow horse futurity prospects to demonstrate what the goal and finished results of the exercises are. Then he works with two of his Academy students who are riding colts with about 30 rides on them to show you how to begin using the training techniques to better your horse’s performance. These exercises aren’t anything you’ll find in Clinton’s training kits, but they’re an important part of his formula for training soft, supple and respectful horses.
