Congratulations to Our Colt Starting Participants

On Monday, Professional Clinician Jeff Davis led our 2020 Colt Starting Clinic participants through their last training sessions at the ranch. The horsemen arrived at the Texas facility on Thursday, August 27th, with their colts that had never been saddled or ridden. Some participants showed up to the clinic as colt-starting veterans and others were working with their very first colts.

Under Jeff’s guidance, the horses were saddled on the second day of the clinic and received their first rides on the fourth day. By the last day of the clinic, participants had given their horses 14 rides and introduced them to a variety of obstacles on the ranch’s sprawling obstacle course. When the clinic concluded on Monday, there was much celebration for the progress the horses and participants made.

As Jeff congratulated everyone and handed participants their certificates, it was a bittersweet moment. Since 2008, hundreds of clinics have been held at the Texas ranch, helping thousands of people build better partnerships with their horses. The Colt Starting Clinic was the very last clinic to take place at the facility and marked an end to an era in Downunder Horsemanship’s journey as we transition to the new ranch in Arkansas.

A Colt Starting Clinic will be held in 2021. Announcements about the clinic will take place on the No Worries Club website and the Downunder Horsemanship social media platforms.
