  • What You’ll Learn Participants gain first-hand knowledge about how to transform a stiff, heavy and unwilling horse into a soft, supple and cooperative partner, and learn exercises to improve their seat, build their confidence and increase their sense of feel and timing – essential ingredients to becoming a skilled horseman. Clinic curriculum focuses on Clinton’s horsemanship philosophy and over 30 groundwork and riding exercises. You’ll put the Fundamentals to practice in the roundpen and arena and then test your skills over Clinton’s obstacle course and on the ranch’s trails.
  • Facilities The Downunder Horsemanship Ranch has both outdoor and indoor arenas; weather will determine which are used. Your horse will be stabled in his own run, which includes a two-sided shelter, automatic waterer and feeder. Each run includes a tack locker with saddle rack, bridle hooks and hay pallet.
  • Daily Schedule The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and will include a two-hour lunch break.
  • Requirements Must be able to confidently canter your horse on a loose rein in a group setting with 29 other horses and riders.
  • Extra Help When You Need It To ensure you receive the attention and assistance you need to make as much progress as possible, Clinton’s clinicians will be on hand to provide additional one-on-one help during the clinic and after hours.

    • What You’ll Learn This year, Clinton will hold a Colt Starting Clinic, but he wants to give participants a more intimate experience with their colts. Instead of 40 or 50 colts getting started over the span of 10 days, the clinic is limited to 20 horsemen and their horses. Along with Clinton, Professional and Certified Clinicians will be on hand to ensure the colt-starting process runs smoothly and one-on-one help is available to everyone to ensure the most progress gets made. Clinton’s approach to colt starting focuses on preparation and safety for horse and rider.

  • What You’ll Learn 

    The second level of Clinton’s horsemanship method focuses on gaining even more control of the horse’s feet on the ground and achieving true lightness and suppleness in the saddle. Emphasis is placed on gaining control of the horse’s five body parts – the head and neck, poll, shoulders, ribcage and hindquarters – because total control of the horse’s body results in total confidence and collection. This clinic is being taught by Clinton’s Professional Clinicians.

  • What You’ll Learn 

    This clinic is intended for horsemen who have mastered the Fundamentals level of the Method and are ready to apply the skills they’ve learned to riding outside of the arena. The clinic will focus on exercises covered in the Fundamentals In Action on the Trail Series, which includes foundation trail exercises designed to get the same level of control and softness from your horse on the trail as you have in the arena, obstacle training, and problem-solving exercises.     The Downunder Horsemanship Ranch has both outdoor and indoor arenas, a challenging obstacle course and miles of trails. Weather permitting, the majority of this clinic will focus on riding your horse on the ranch’s trails and working on the obstacle course. Your horse will be stabled in his own run, which includes a two-sided shelter, automatic waterer and feeder. Each run includes a tack locker with saddle rack, bridle hooks and hay pallet.

    Be a spectator and learn from the successes and challenges of a group of horses and riders as they work through Clinton’s training-on-the-trail exercises while receiving the clinician’s instruction and critique.
