Our Strategic Anchors

Clinton has managed to grow Downunder Horsemanship from an idea he had when he came to the United States in 1997 to an industry leader by focusing on both the smart and healthy side of business. While the smart side of business includes things like the company’s finances, technology, marketing, etc., the healthy side consists of things like minimal politics, clear communication and high productivity. “The reality is that while it’s important to pay attention to both sides, it’s actually a little more of a priority to focus on the healthy side. If your team is working well together and communicating clearly with one another, you can accomplish anything,” Clinton explains.

One of the keys to keeping an organization healthy and smart is establishing organizational clarity – making sure everyone in the company is on the same page. One of the ways Downunder Horsemanship has gained organizational clarity is by defining our strategic anchors. Downunder Horsemanship uses character, results, quality products and customer intimacy to differentiate itself from the competition. It’s extremely important to have anchors in place so that every person at every level of the company can make independent decisions about their work based on them. By establishing strategic anchors, Clinton can empower his employees to make decisions and trust that they make smart and healthy choices that positively impact the company.

Character
Clinton is popular because of his character and customer appreciation. At every Walkabout Tour, he sets aside time to sign autographs, talk with and take pictures with his fans. He has a typical Australian work ethic and a huge sense of humor. He believes it takes hard work to get ahead, and he takes his work very seriously. Still, he’s humble enough not to take himself too seriously and exemplifies this best with his self-deprecating humor. Clinton has made sure his character carries over to his company culture. Everyone who works at Downunder Horsemanship is genuine and cares about our customers. Our customers’ needs are always put in front of the company’s needs, and Clinton insists we do whatever it takes to show our customers we truly appreciate their business and want them to succeed in their horsemanship goals.

Results
Getting results is extremely important to Clinton. The Downunder Horsemanship Method is popular largely because of Clinton’s no-nonsense approach to training horses. His method is black and white and gets effective results quickly. Not only is Clinton focused on achieving results with horses, but as a fierce competitor he’s also committed to seeing results in his business. He expects great results from all of his employees and representatives, and expects everyone to do whatever is necessary to get the job done, no matter what it takes.

Quality Products
Clinton is a perfectionist and fanatic when it comes to quality products. In fact, Downunder Horsemanship is preeminent in the horse industry in a large part because the products we offer and endorse are recognized as being of the highest quality in the industry. While Downunder Horsemanship’s products and services are not inexpensive, they are the very best value available in the market. Quality products will always outperform and outlast cheaper, inferior ones.

Customer Intimacy
Customers drive a business, and continually adding new customers and building long-term relationships with existing customers are what separate successful companies from stagnant ones. Downunder Horsemanship is committed to helping horsemen around the world realize their horsemanship dreams and is always looking for ways to add horsemen to its ever growing customer base and build a stronger connection with its existing customers. In an effort to cultivate lasting connections with customers and attract new customers to the Downunder Horsemanship family, Clinton and his team use available resources to learn customers’ evolving wants and desires, research potential new markets and develop meaningful relationships with horsemen committed to the Method. Clinton has built Downunder Horsemanship from just an idea he had when he first came to the United States to an industry leading company by always striving to exceed customers’ expectations, listening to customer feedback with an open mind, staying true to himself and surrounding himself with a team of like-minded individuals. Every member of the Downunder Horsemanship team is expected to live up to the four core values (loyal, hard-working, ambitious and personable) to go above and beyond existing customers’ expectations and to better serve new customers.
